@roxie that's the initrd, and vfio is absolutely available there as long as you rebuild the image after changing the modprobe settings

bios settings... you cant do much abt that... pc vendors and their wacky propietary firmware n all

@haskal I'm on manjaro so basically arch. So I can have the initrd have vifo on and stub the other graphics card like my normal install does?

open /etc/mkinitcpio.conf
add to MODULES (inside the parentheses): vfio_pci vfio vfio_iommu_type1 vfio_virqfd

go to /etc/modprobe.d/vfio.conf (or wherever you have this configured)
ensure there is a line like
options vfio-pci ids=aaaa:bbbb,cccc:dddd...

then do
sudo mkinitcpio -P
